Messages window minimized/maximized isn't updated properly

Starting a stream then immediately minimizing VLC before the stream actually starts results in not getting the video back when you maximize again when it plays; only audio plays (best reproducable with large cache). The debug spams following warning:

[00000356] vout_directx video output warning: could not blit surface (error -2005532522)

Switching to OpenGL does not give this warning message, yet the problem is the same. It doesn't show video either when maximizing again.

Problem does not occur when another Application/Window is made active immediately after starting VLC and takes the foreground (this also puts the VLC window on the background but not really minimized?).
