repeated use of "next frame" leads to freeze

When using the "next frame" feature repeatedly the program freezes. It's not possible to restart playback, open another file or close the program then. I tested this with some AVI and FLV files, always the same result. It seems to matter how long the intervals between pressing the "e"-key are. If I do it very fast, it doesn't freeze, when pressing "e" every 0.5 seconds, it does.
