UI is stuck when built with ffmpeg-7.1

When vlc (snapshot e5fc9cc4 for example (as noted in issue 28811)) is built with ffmpeg 7.1, there is just a black screen, and the UI of "vlc" or "cvlc" does not seem to react anymore. Also rm -rf ~/.{cache,config}/vlc && vlc ~/something.mp4 shows just the initial configuration, which can be processed with Next/Next/Finish.

I do not have a build of ffmpeg-7.0 anymore, but using ffmpeg 6.1 restores expected behavior.

This is with Leap 15.6. Does ffmpeg 7.1 work elsewhere? There are not error messages or any indication why another ffmpeg variant would make a difference.
