Individual speakers in a Google Nest Mini speaker pair also appear in the renderer list
VLC: 3.0.20 Windows 10 Home: 22H2 Laptop: Acer V5 with 12GB
A pair of Google Nest Mini speakers can be configured as a L/R stereo pair for casting (a Google Cast Group).
When changing the cast target in VLC, the name given to the speaker pair appears as a target in the renderers list (correct) ... however, the names of the individual speakers in the pair also appear in the renderer list (incorrect). Note that after a Google speaker pair is created, casting to the individual speakers will always fail (by design).
In VLC, if one of the individual speakers is selected from the list as the renderer, VLC starts quickly playing every track in the playlist after attempting (and failing) to connect to the speaker for each track.
The correction is to suppress the display of the individual speaker names in the renderer list when they are known to be part of a speaker pair. Might I also suggest that recording the "friendly" names of renderers (viz. "Kitchen R") in the log file would be useful.
In the photo, the speaker pair is called "Kitchen Pair" and the individual speakers are "Kitchen R" and "Kitchen Pair" (confusingly) ...
