Preferences won't reset

When i have saved non-default settings, start, open preferences, choose reset all, save, quit, restart, my old non-default preferences are still there.

Looking at the debug log, the Save after my reset does not save the preferences to a file. The function is called from the interface, so this seems like a core issue.
