Audio device set but not available - VLC-Player crashes

I noticed that VLC-Player 3.0.20 on Windows 10 crashes when I set an audio device in settings, which is not anymore present.

I have a Beamer with own sound, which sends the audio via Bluetooth to my amplifier. So I set in:

Tools > Preferences (simple view) > Audio > Output > Device: MyBeamer

On start of VLC-Player the Beamer was not yet on, so not available and so VLC-Player crashed immediately, without error message about it.

It took me a while to find, why. To fix I first deleted the vlcrc file, then the player started again, but I remembered later, what the issue could have been and used my old vlcrc with switched on Beamer, then I set audio device to default.

VLC-Player should set the device to Default as fall back, when the user set device is not present.
