Windows 10 to Chromecast: playback randomly skips to next item in playlist.
It seems VLC and the Chromecast have some kind of intermittent timeout issue. It will be playing through a playlist just fine and then randomly skip to the next item. Plays a few more files just fine, then skips again. And so on. I can't discern any rhyme or reason as to causes; I'm usually not at the PC when it happens. The Messages line which precedes all track skips is the following:
stream_out_chromecast warning: No PING response from the chromecast
Of note: the above can also occur while playback is paused, as you'll see at the end of the history. This causes a related problem, to wit: if you pause a track that's currently playing on the Chromecast and it encounters this PING error before you resume playback, hitting Play again skips to the next track instead of resuming play (this behavior is not caught by the logs but I can include a snip of that if it'll help).
The "verbosity 2" messages history is here.
Timeline of said history:
- VLC plays session 30 just fine for a long while (it's an MP3 audio podcast).
- Mid-stream (and without my inducement; I'm not at the PC) VLC encounters a "No PING response" problem.
- VLC does a bunch of stuff to start playing the next file (probably takes under 1 second).
- Session 31 begins (the next track in the playlist).
- It plays fine for a good while, then this error happens again and session 32 begins (next track).
- I come to the computer to pause playback and make this post.
- I notice VLC has encountered this "no ping" problem while paused.
Also, I don't know if I should be posting this here or on the forums. I can put it wherever it's most useful.
