DVDs not starting in VLC Media Player

I have been directed to create a new report here by somebody from the VideoLAN Forums. I hope I am doing this right!

(My issue pasted directly from VideoLAN Forums): I own an external disc drive which I attempted to set up on my Windows 10 desktop PC today The external piece itself will accept DVDs and my computer does find an E: drive under the name of the disc I use. I have been able to download VLC media player and tell it to run the E: drive which is my DVD. However, the drive just whirs a bit, an orange bar bounces around on VLC media player, and nothing happens. Pressing play again gives the same results. I have tested using different USB ports for the external drive and with different discs to no avail. I have also tried other media players than VLC and they give the same effect of a whirring drive and no media playing. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong and how I can make DVDs play?

I was also asked to paste the link to my thread on the VideoLAN Forums and a messages log following my issue on VLC Media Player: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?p=535808&sid=60df2ee5a3aba83ac5f55693547a41dd#p535808 https://justpaste.it/c7hdh

Finally, the EAN-13 code (assuming I found out what that is correctly) of my DVD is: 5 060223 768403

Hoping this issue of DVDs not playing can be resolved, if I have messed up giving any information please let me know 😄
