The VLSub 0.11.1 Subtitle Search Plugin Crashes VLC 70% of the Time

I want to use VLC as my main media player, which also requires it be able to frequently download subtitles for new videos I want to watch. For more than a year, it has been extremely unreliable when subtitle searching is needed. So much so that I have resorted to using another media player when I need to download subtitles.
