open capture device with delay not working flawless

this happens on a microsoft surface pro 3 device with win 10. I want to get vlc to play what the integrated camera is capturing with a few seconds delay. I got to "media/open capture device" choose then directshow and the integrated camera, no audio, and, under "more options", I can choose delay in milliseconds.

This is working great up to a delay of exactly 6795 milliseconds. From 6796 milliseconds on and more the video ist hanging and showing only one picture all 5 seconds or so. I use newest version of vlc but testing an older 2.2 version was showing the same problem.

I tested this on a win 7 machine without having any problem. If I install a extern camera device on the surface machine it works also without problems. The integrated camera has a very good resolution so I think it is a sort of a RAM problem. Though in the taskmanager CPU usage and RAM usage is far away from being critical.
