HDR 10 Bits_Burn Inaccurates Colors in VLC|5K Player VS Movies&TV|MPV Player
It s been 2 months trying to figure out what s causing innacuracy and like burnt colors in VLC and same thing in 5K Player while in Movies&TV and in MPV Player, the Colors are just as excpected.
For Instance you can test the rendering of the colors in Zack Snyder's Justice League UHD HDR Bluray and in Battlefield 2042 4K OBS or ShadowPlay Captured content.
You will notice that in VLC|5K Player you have like a slightly noticeable greenish, washed out burnt, banding 8 Bit effect causing filter whereas, in Movies&TV and in MPV Player, going on and off in the Game window, absoluetly no differences at all : in Movies&TV|MPV Player the colors are just rendered the same as the original support media, no difference !
Is it possible to say that VLC and 5K Player share the same rendering engine which, in opposition to the very misleading information given on the official respective softwares, ARE NOT HDR 10 Bit Capable, they can maybe play the files, but the color popping and the high luminance Nits|cd/m2 are absoluetly NOT THERE.
Is there a way to properly render HDR in VLC as the content was intended to be rendered or is it jus fake advertising and misleading feature information ?
What have already been tried : _Switching the output from Direct3D11 to OpenGL : it s Worse, the colors are nonesensical. _Turning off the GPU "Hardware Accelrating Decoding" from Direct3D11 : Doesen t change anything. _Tried to activate the "Banding removal" effect : Strangely like some other effect in this video tab, the color changes to be brighter or whiter or something like that, which at 1st glance appears to be better, more lightfull or something, but, when you analyse correctly the colors and lights you will notice that the colors are presented with a greenish|burnt like filter and the luminance from the most luminance thing are not darker but somehow less luminance by a long shot as if the nits values where reduced by 20% or something.
Tried to take a screenshot in .jxr with ShadowPlay but the .jxr doesent embed at all the accuraccy of the colors and cannot share the video files on this forum for these nonesical DMCA regulations by the production compagnies and the limit size of upload on cloud storage but I can share this to a developpers by torrent if they want to. To check out this issue you can for instance notice the difference in an HDR 10 Bit footage in a game or a movie in the rendering of a light bulb for the burnt effect (in VLC you cannot notice the bulb in the light and the detail is lost in the burnt of the light and around the light you have some sort of bandings ripples or something) or the reflections on a reflective ground like metal, wooden or asphalt with rain (in VLC the lights are not as their full potential as they are not bright as originally intended to, it let a washed out taste).
So if possible, Can a VideoLAN VLC developper or someone knowing well VLC can answer the question about the color rendering Greenish|Burnt effect in HDR in VLC|5K Player VS Movies&TV|MPV Player AND the question about what some filter effects in "Adjustement and Effects" change in the image color as soon as you switch them on without even sliding or changing any of the settings.
If this HDR wrong rendering issue doesen t have any fix in VLC, this have to be on the top of the priority Features list to implement because nowdays, a player which doesen t play HDR content at least as it s played on the others quality reference softwares like MPV and how it s intended to be, is a big issue for the reason that all the main content media are in HDR, Games and Movies. So this type of innacuracy can push the enthusisats and other aware to remain away from VLC and Stuck to other Software like Movies&TV, Media Player, MPV. Which is pity because just of this HDR wrong color rendering and interpretation issue..... which cause to litterally ditch out an historically leading software with a lot of features that other softwares doesen t even purpose a glimpse of...... And it s the reason why today I decide to switch to MPV, because of this HDR unsupport actually or wrong rendering.....
So is there a way to send a Feature|Bug reports to developper or talk to them to asses this Major issue ? Is there a way to contact the developpers on this matter and talk with them about the matter subject ?
If you read until there : Thank for your time. If there is still someone on this forum wich is the only way to discuss VLC apparently, it s time to Open a Discord server, Waiting for your answer.

Here s the resulting log with apparently nothing unexpected from the VLC Playing the mkv : https://1drv.ms/u/s!AiUmCeW6ezhq9A0LggoCBJrrNqOB?e=IsG9bT
Here s the Reference Video Sample : You can Play in VLC and in MPV Player just after. You will jus t be able to notice the difference in colors and it s not only the saturation, it s this burnt greenish effect for instance on the red light bulb in the background or on the color of the player card or the menue and the lightness of the reflection. Everything is not as intended in VLC but is as Intended in MPV : (Download the file on the Top Left Corner because the OneDrive Player Cannot Play HDR Properly) https://1drv.ms/u/s!AiUmCeW6ezhq9AyCswv1O4pPWxGD?e=NV3bma
