VLC on macOS modifies files when opened over network without telling you, changing modification date and messing up film workflows
Every time a file is opened with VLC over a network, the modification date is changed. I suspect this is due to metadata being messed with without the user's consent. This is a big no-no. Don't do this. This means you can't simply open a file and look at it without risk of the original file being changed, and if you've implemented some type of hash check to ensure files are originals (and not copies), this messes everything up. This is a huge issue in the filmmaking community, where original camera files must be pristine and unmodified to ensure there is no damage during file transfers. Again, the user is not notified this is happening. This should be fixed, or make a preference to where the user must opt-in to this destructive behavior.
