VLC 1.0.0-pre2 sound artifacts when using Audio device Mono

Tested on Windows XP Pro 32 bits with two speakers and both Windows and VLC set to stereo.

When using 'Audio -> Audio device -> Mono' major sound artifacts occur (metallic sound with high pitch and kind of vibrations). It seems to happen with any audio format if it is stereo, 5.1 audio seems not to be affected.

vlc-1.0.0-pre2-20090502-2244-win32 => has the bug

vlc-1.0.0-pre2-20090501-2205-win32 => is working fine
