Multiple Audio Gaps After Pause

I am having an issue with audio playback. Whenever I pause a podcast and step away, the audio skips several times when I return. I am playing MP3 files that I've downloaded locally. I have the same issue with different podcasts.

I tried resetting my preferences.

In particular I noticed this line in the log:

main warning: playback way too early (-624390): playing silence

Steps to Reproduce the Issue

• Open VLC.
• Load an MP3 file.
• Play the file.
• Skip to the middle of the track.
• Pause playback.
• Wait at least five seconds.
• Resume playback.

After resuming, there will be multiple audio gaps in the playback.

The issue occurs every time.
