VLC playlist not showing all files

I'm starting VLC with the following command.

"%PROGRAMFILES%\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --start-paused --playlist-tree "C:\My Nested MP4 Directory"

The directory is a nested folder structure containing numerous mp4 files. The problem is the playlist tree does not pick up all of the mp4 files.
