VLC can't pause(stop) HLS and MP3 streams once they're started
Phone: Google Pixel 3a Android version: 11 VLC version: 3.1.1, installed via Google Play
Primary using VLC for video at home, and for radio streaming via Android Auto when in the car. When streaming radio from any of these radio links: https://www.dr.dk/hjaelp/digtal-radio/direkte-links-til-dr-radio-paa-nettet
VLC starts the stream just fine, but I can't pause or stop the stream. If I select the stream from a playlist on Android Auto, the stream just continues on the phone speakers after turning off the car.
There are a couple of workarounds:
-
Kill VLC through the Settings app in Android.
-
In VLC, select any local media. That stops the stream and starts the playback of the local file, which I can then pause or stop.
-
Deactivate the mobile network in Android, at which point the stream stops in 10-20 seconds, and does not start again until I select the stream again.
I discovered the log function from another post while searching for this specific issue.

While the log was running: a. I started a HLS stream from a playlist, which uses the "DR P5 København Apple HLS" link in the above overview.
b. Tried to pause twice. c. Selected a local media, then stopped the playback.
