VLC Player does not have a hotkey assignment entry for AB Loop Repeat function

Summary of problem: "Shift +L" is the hotkey that triggers the A-B Loop function, but it should listed as a programmable hotkey in preferences.

OS: Arch Linux x86_64

Machine: ThinkPad T470

GPU: Intel Skylake GT2 [HD Graphics 520]

package version: vlc-3.0.17.3-1

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Open a video file in VLC.
  2. Press "shift + L" key once. This will set the "A" point.
  3. Press "shift + L" key once more. This will set the "B" point, and begin looping.
  4. Press "shift + L" key once more. This will end the looping function. Everything here works as expected.
  5. Now, go to "tools > preferences > hotkeys".
  6. Search the term "shift" under the "hotkey" filter "Shift +L" is not listed, and therefore, cannot be changed.
