4.0 regression: Resizing Qt main GUI starves system

Switch to playlist view, resize the main GUI with mouse a few times back and forth.

The GUI becomes slower and slower to react, the system starts running out of memory and eventually crashes completely. This is with Debian.

Tested with audio-only playback so it's definitely not a video output problem.
