Popping/cracking sound between tracks when playing music from CDs

I was asked on the VLC forums to post my info here:

This is happening with VLC 3.0.16 (fresh install, no settings changed) on Windows 10 Pro (x64) with .WMA files.

Specifics: I have 37 .WMA files (created from music CD using Windows Media Player) in a directory, and I have VLC play everything in the directory. The "pop" happens between each file. EVERY TIME.

More specifics:

  1. Started VLC from scratch.
  2. Enabled log (debug).
  3. Started playing the folder with the above files.
  4. Played through first pop/click.
  5. Saved log file vlc.log.
  6. Link to two .WMA files that show the issue: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AsKu6_okeyfYrtdHW8IU4g6kcN6WTg?e=QoaQFf 7: Link to forum message thread: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?t=145023
