webp support seems broken

It seems like webp support was added 3 years ago, as stated in the wiki and also tracked by issue #19446 (closed). However I just tried opening a few webp images with VLC and I get the error

Unidentified code:
VLC could not identify the audio or video codec

And the error actually loops, causing me to force-close the application.

Same error gets thrown for both webp images (samples can be found here) and webp animated graphics (sample can be found here).

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
