After ~ 12 - 24 hours of being open, VLC will no longer prevent screen standby when a new video is loaded in
This issue has been really hard to reproduce consistently. But this is my scenario:
On a laptop with the latest Windows 21H1 64-bit:
- Screen standby is configured to 2 minutes
- Windows re-lock is set to 60 minutes via blank screensaver
- No sleep timer active, laptop is always on
Then do this with VLC:
- Open a video (I always do a YouTube video that is longer than 10 minutes) and pause it
- After 12 - 24 hours, load another YouTube video in the same VLC client
- Screen standby is no longer blocked by VLC and you are forced to close VLC and re-open it to have standby blocking active again
