Gnome-40 issues

Problems:

Ubuntu 21.04, Gnome 3.38

VLC-4 (Compiled from source) Works successfully, just the video takes a few seconds to resize in window when drag corner to enlarge. [X11 video output (XCB) or X11 RENDER video output (XCB)]

Fedora 34, Gnome 40

VLC 3.0.12 works (both from repo and built from source). Audio is fine. [X11 video output (XCB) or XVideo output (XCB)]

VLC-4 (Compiled from source) [OpenGL video output]

$ ./vlc a_video.mp4

Plays for a couple of seconds with video in undecorated window with audio, then VLC crashes. Similar result opening video from interface. Start PulseEffects and issue the terminal command above – first attempt same as without PulseEffects; second attempt the video plays right through with good audio and video in undecorated, unmoveable window. (Opening video from interface, just get the couple of seconds again.) Other video output settings result in no video (but maybe audio) or just the couple of seconds play.

Relevant terminal messages:

vlc: audio_output/pulse.c:434: context_cb: Assertion !"unreachable"' failed.`

xdg_shell window error: server-side decoration not supported

Regarding window decoration, I read something about Gnome no longer supporting SSD and found: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/3609 which directs to this: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/commit/32ae97f13af6651c06ee1e094543f1a96d61cefc

I don't know if this constitutes unknown information, or whether solutions are known or being worked on.
