VLC stops unexpectedly while streaming via chromecast

I use VLC(3.0.12 Vetinari) to stream media from my imac to my tv using chromecast. Lately the app has started to suddenly stop mid show. This can happen one time or it can happen several times during an episode. The app doesn't crash. It just stops. It's really frustrating and I really hope you can fix this bug. I only have this issue with VLC. Chromecast works flawlessly with other apps/platforms.
