H.265 8k videos won`t play

H.265/HVEC 8k videos shot on a Samsung Galaxy S20+ wont play on VLC for windows, including on nightly v4 and latest 3011, using Windows 10 64bit. I have tried on at least three different Windows machines all with different hardware configurations. The most powerful one has 32GB of RAM, a core i5-10600K CPU and a Radeon 5600 XT. The VLC window is black even though the progress bar moves. Trying to resize the window crashes VLC. On VLC 3.0.11 I get a black video window. VLC 4.0 shows a pixelated imaged with almost 100% frame drops that quickly freezes. Same video plays fine in, for example, 5k player.
