vlc uses way too much CPU time when paused

When the VLC process is paused, after pressing the spacebar, it still uses much too much CPU time. Using the "top" command on Linux I see 30% CPU time always. It isn't even mapped, because it is on some other workspace. The only thing it should do is wait for my key stroke to unpause it. That can be a blocking pause, not using any CPU. Now instead, because VLC is using so very much CPU time doing nothing, my computer cannot benefit at all from all the many energy saving features it has. So VLC is contributing significantly to the current climate crisis. Consider all those computers in the world where VLC is needlessly using up all those CPU cycles while in pause mode. No wonder all animal species are going extinct. Please correct the idea that VLC is the center of the universe, justifying all this electricity usage. Don't let your software do anything, unless it is actually really wanted by the user. Thank you for writing this wonderful program, but please improve your programming ethics.
