VLC becomes unresponsive if closed quickly after opening

This bug looks to me as some interthread race condition. Upon oppening a video file from a file manager (any, tested with big buck benny mp4) and quickly closing the VLC before the video starts playing the application freezes and has to be force closed.

While frozen CPU is not used. The process also reacts to SIGTERM. I attached a sample obtained when the app is frozen.
