Crash on window changes and pauses, plus no audio

The newest version has a bug that causes the program to freeze when pausing and changing between other tasks. For example it normally happens if you change from playing a mkv video and then switch over to a web browser and then back and forth at least 2 times. Then you play the video and the audio cuts out completely. Then you try to quit the program and the program freezes and then you need to force quit the vlc program. Thought it could be OS problem but did fresh OS install today. OS is 10.14.6. vls is 3.0.10.
