VMD 3.0.10 freezes after pause on macOS

Since I updated to VMD 3.0.10 (was up-to-date before that, so 3.0.8 I believe), I am seeing some regular freezes of VMD after pausing, when I try to restart (which I do with the space key). The audio then stops, and the video too after a short delay. The interface is still present (I can play with menus, buttons, etc) but no user interaction has any effect. It can File > Close or File > Quit, but they don't have any effect either. The only solution is to "Force quit" the app through the Finder.

The issues is not systematic, but it happens often. It's not related to the file type or format, I've seen it on different video files (AVI, MKV). Sadly, the freeze did not seem to produce a crash log (or at least, I didn't find it).
