No way to completely disable all media key usage in VLC

Expected:

I would like a setting in VLC to ignore the Media Play / Pause, Previous and Next keys, even when VLC is the active application. I would prefer to use these for music playback in other applications and I can use the space bar/ other keyboard shortcuts for VLC.

Using Windows 10.

Issue:

There doesn't appear to any way from disabling the Media Keys from working in VLC. I have tried finding anything in the global preferences, unsetting keys, etc. and I cannot find anything.

More Info:

Anywhere I look for this functionality, everyone says to unset the global hotkeys. I do not have any global hotkeys mapped.

By choosing the skinnable interface, these keys are ignored, but that has many disadvantages:

  • Cannot resize by dragging from any corner as the default interface can.
  • Cannot resize by dragging to top of monitor or sides to take up 1/2 of screen.
  • In my specific case, I can't resize the window at all, because I can't drag it high enough to reach the resize handle in the lower right.
