VLC cannot send audio from stream to chromecast / bluetooth speaker

Dear Devs,

I'd like to report a bug I experienced with VLC 3 on two different computers trying to play media contents from an online stream to two different remote speakers within my local area network. I experienced this issue with VLC running both on Ubuntu 18.04 and Windows 10 v1903; VLC version 3.0.7 and 3.0.8 respectively.

In both cases, I opened the audio source (online radio) with VLC and get normal playback when I set the renderer to . However, if I switch to my cast device (on one trial I used a chromecast plugged to my TV, on the second I used a Bluetooth smart speaker) I get no sound coming from these although VLC continues playing normally and the remote devices seem to be receiving something (in the Chromecast+TV case, I got a "playing default stream" message (or similar) and in the speaker case I received the "playing " on the google home screen where I was monitoring the speaker, it even gives me the chance to stop casting using my phone...).

I must highlight that this issue happens to me only with contents I get from an online stream; I tried playing whatever I had locally (say some MP3 files) and cast them to the remote device, and everything works smooth.

If you want to reproduce the test, I can send you the files with the radio streams I tried, but I guess VLc playing any file with a stream URL should behave the same way.

I hope you manage to fix this issue, VLC has been my player of choice for around 12 years now...

Regards

Martin S.
