Tray icon missing in Ubuntu from snap install

I installed VLC from snap since the one from PPA is crashing. Upon installing and running, the icon that normally appears in the try appears as the default "no icon" icon. USing the VLC from PPA, the icon appears as expected.

I have attached an image of both the PPA and snap VLC open and their corresponding tray icon. Nore the one to the left is PPA and the one to the right is snap. The respective icons are in same order and are the very last two on the left of the tray.
