VLC plugin 0.9.x doesn't play videos

When I try to play some videos on firefox 3.0 with the mozilla vlc plugin, I just get the message:

Video is loading...

I've tried this in a machine with debian and the version 0.9.4 and with a gentoo machine with versions from 0.9.2 to 0.9.5. In both i got the message avobe and in the console I got the following message:

*** LibVLC Exception not handled: No active input
Set a Breakpoint in 'libvlc_exception_not_handled' to debug

I thing this bug is related with the ticket #2062 (closed) but that is just about windows.
