VLC 3.0.4 source code tarball - Changelog only contains entries from 2015
The changelog file in the 3.0.4 source code tarball only contains git commit entries from 2015 (strangley though the dates range from 31 Dec 2015 to 1 Jan 2015).
Just to confirm this source code tarball: vlc-3.0.4.tar.xz Downloaded from: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-sources.html via this link: http://get.videolan.org/vlc/3.0.4/vlc-3.0.4.tar.xz
I suspect that the script that produces the changelog from the git repository has a problem, so the changelog file isn't being updated when a new release is created. Or that maybe someone decided to limit the size of the changelog by only selecting git commit info for the current year, but hard coded the year as 2015?
I downloaded the previous source code release 3.0.3.1 and diff'd the changelog files and I can confirm they are exactly the same.
I know this is bound to be a low priority, but i thought i should make sure you're aware of it and i couldn't find any mention of it existing tickets or the list of known issues. I also know that changelogs are pretty much depreciated in favour of the repository commit logs, but they are still useful / expected. (In fact the only reason I don't loaded the source was to read the changelog as the release info for 3.0.4 wasn't on the vlc website at the time.) I guess if you decide not to fix it then removing the changelog file from your releases or have it refer people to the git repository would be reasonable.
I've attached the 3.0.4 and 3.0.3.1 releases sourcecode changelog files to this ticket (or tried to).
Thanks for all the hard work.
