Problems with fallback fonts for missing Unicode characters
Set Subtitle font to "Futura" in VLC preferences and then play a movie with the following subtitles:
1
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:10,000
Hello ♪ World
The subtitle is displayed as below. Futura does not have the "♪" character, so evidently VLC switches to another font to display it, but then it forgets to switch back afterwards.
("Hello" in Futura font) ♪ ("World" in another font)
A related issue: When setting subtitle font to "American Typewriter" in VLC preferences, the "♪" character is displayed as "□", while the rest of the text is displayed as "American Typewriter (like expected)
