Feature request: Way to turn off compensation for high-dpi displays

I have 14" 1920x1080 display which vlc thinks is high-dpi (at least I assume that based on all buttons being huge). The settings window doesn't even fit on my screen by default. Since that isn't ideal I would like to have an option to turn compensation for high-dpi displays off (I mean, it was perfectly usable with small buttons in vlc 2.8).

So, please consider this as a feature request :)
