vlc 3.0.1 nightlies since 20180220-0509 show black screen instead of an actual video

Starting with https://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win64/vlc-3.0.1-20180220-0509/ I see black screen on default settings on Windows 10. Changing the video output to Direct3D 9 shows the video as expected.
