Square brackets in paths from .m3u playlist drops song silently
Hello,
On 2018-01-17, my Debian testing (with deb-multimedia packages) upgraded vlc: [UPGRADE] vlc:amd64 1:2.2.8-dmo3 -> 1:3.0.0~rc5.real-dmo1
Since then, I noticed that when loading a .m3u file in vlc (whether through the UI or as a CLI arg), all filenames containing a right square bracket ("]") were dropped silently from the playlist.
I know deb-multimedia can sometime mess up packages so I tried installing the default Debian Testing version (3.0.0~rc5-1 then) but to no avail. The vlc version has since been bumped to 3.0.0-rc7 but the bug is still there.
It must be noted that vlc will still play the files just fine if they are loaded individually through UI or as CLI args.
Exact steps to reproduce:
- load a .m3u playlist that contains at least one path with a right closing square bracket
- the(se) path(s) won't show in the loaded playlist Reproducibility: every time.
