It looks like vlc 3.0 still contains some bugs as far as the Blu-ray playback is concerned.
I have vlc 3.0.0-rc5 installed. If I choose to play a specific Blu-ray title, but it consists of many different m2ts files, then the video may become garbled for a second when one m2ts file ends and another one begins. It's possible it's caused by a bug in the ts demuxer. I have no such issues if I use mpv to play either this Blu-ray title or some other title. I don't even know if providing the -vvv information will be useful in this case. But this is definitely a serious bug.
