Forwarding causes the overlay of subtitles and sound controls to disappear.

This has been constantly happening to me for YEARS, but I never filed a report until now.

Here's what happens:

1. I start playing a video file, say .mkv. Everything is fine, VLC is the best.
2. I use the "two fingers to the right" trackpad gesture to fast-forward it a bit. I do it a few times.
3. Subtitles shortly disappear and the overlay which appears when you change the volume level (like 'Volume 95%') never appears again.
4. Sad face. cmd+q, restart the movie. If I don't fast-forward it never happens.

Please fix this.

I run VLC 2.2.8 under MacOS 10.13.1.
