DVD subtitles decoder doesn't respect Subtitles / OSD settings
When I watch a DVD with included subtitles the Subtitles / OSD settings won't be applied. Instead VLC always seems to use a bulky/ugly default font format. It seems to decode the subtitles with "spudec". However, when I load an external srt file these settings will be considered and have the desired effect. As well as the OSD to have the media title shown on start will work as set. But the ones included at the DVD won't.
There has been a bug #15627 (closed) that might be related, but it might have been the other way round? Seems similar and is already closed, but in the latest 2.2.6 as well as in the latest nightly of 3.0.0 rc2 this problem still occurs and is very well reproducable with my DVD of ELEMENTARY-S1-EN-D5 for example. I searched the forums and the tracker for "spudec" but didn't find anything applicable.
I'm using Windows7 x64 on a Lenovo T420i with an Intel i3-2310M and an Intel HD Graphics 3000.
The subtitle not displayed with respecting the settings is Stream 0: Original ID: 48416 Codec: DVD Subtitles (spu ) Language: English Type: Subtitle
The working Subtitle is Stream 16: Codec: Text subtitles with various tags (subt) Language: English Type: Subtitle
