Black screen between tracks

During video playback, VLC 2.2.x shows tracks in the playlist seamlessly (without gaps/interruption).

In 3.0.0 a black screen/frame is displayed between tracks.

This may have been introduced when trying to fix #9063. v3.0.0 no longer displays the first frame of the track that is seen in #9063, but unfortunately, a black screen is shown instead, resulting in a gap in the playback. This can be seen with a playlist like the one attached.

If necessary, reverting to the old behaviour (so that VLC playback is not broken for all users) should be a priority over fixing #9063.
