iOS: Sound goes out after pausing

Whenever I pause, skip ahead or back, or stop playing, the sound goes out and does not come back, even after quitting and relaunching VLC.

I am using VLC for iOS Bersion 2.8.4 (284.1) on an iPhone 7S with iOS 11.1.

This problem has persisted across a couple of VLC updates and iOS updates.
