Attemps to deinterlace a .ts file using Yadif2x through transcode results in glitched video
Operating system for which the problem was noticed: Windows 10 (10.0.15063)
VLC media player version: VLC 2.2.6 Umbrella
Hardware used: Toshiba Satellite C660, with Intel Core i3 (processor), Realtek High Definition Audio (sound), and AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 (video)
Logs: scroll down to "Video files and logs" at the end of this ticket. – (These logs may be unusually long, due to the presence of EPG information in the video files I tried to deinterlace.)
The steps I took that resulted in the problem: • The file I had chosen to deinterlace is a snippet of an interlaced French TV recording in the .ts format; to create the snippet, I played the recording in VLC and pressed the "Record" button (red circle symbol) to select the snippet (saved as a .ts file). • Once I had the snippet, I followed the instructions given in this post from the VideoLan forums in order to deinterlace it: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?p=396521#p396521(https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?p=396521#p396521) – The profile I applied to deinterlace the snippet was "H264 + MP3 (TS)". • Then I read the "deinterlaced" video, which had a glitchy aspect. • I tried this deinterlacing operation of the 1st snippet several times, sometimes with Yadif settings instead of Yadif2x settings; once, I also tried to make VLC convert the .ts file into a .mp4 file (a.k.a. Profile: "H264 + MP3 (MP4)") in addition to the aforementioned deinterlacing procedure. But every new attempt returned me the same glitchy result.
Note: Hardware acceleration decoding was turned off the whole time.
Reproducibility: this problem happened each time I attempted the deinterlacing. Also, this problem also happened with a 2nd snippet from a different recording which has similar properties.
