lockup in playlist when selecting items in playlist

Tested on vlc-0.9.0-test3-20080729-0131-win32

Occasionally VLC will "freeze" when selecting an item in the playlist, yet CPU usage is normal. This can be reproduced by opening 2 video clips, then Open Playlist and alternate (not doubleclick) between selecting them a few times.

Whenever alternating, debug also shows:

QPainter::begin: A paint device can only be painted by one painter at a time.

(This message is seen in more cases, I already see it with --extraintf logger open and selecting Playlist so I have 3 windows open, alternating between them also gives this warning).

Using --playlist-tree doesn't help. Perhaps related to #1768 (closed) Qt interface bug?
