Advanced prefs on macOS sometimes do not store numeric settings properly

Sometimes when using the VLC advanced setting on macOS and changing some numerical value, in my case it was the hide mouse timeout in the video section, entering 5000 and saving, and reopening VLC suddenly showed a value of 5, which was what seems was actually saved instead of 5000.

I am unfortunately not able to reliably reproduce this.
