Chromecast multiple network interface issue

VLC does not detect a chromecast when scanning. Other software such as Chrome detects and uses chromecast perfectly.

Starting VLC with --sout="#chromecast{ip=192.168.0.35}" allows VLC to attempt to communicate with chromecast. When playing media, the progress bar in VLC increases second by second. Chromecast springs to life and attempts to play back, but times out after a few seconds.
