Having issues downloading from file browser to vlc ios

I have vlc iOS 2.7.8 and file browser 8.2 installed on my iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 9.3.2. I was able to download movies from file browser to vlc and view the movies offline in vlc last year . However, once I upgraded to the latest version of vlc 2.7.8. I was having issue downloading files from file browser to vlc. When downloading in vlc, I can see the progress but once the download progress finished 100%, the downloaded files did not show up on vlc "all files". I have tried many times and the files were just not showing up. Can u please let me know if it is an existing bug? If so, when can it be fixed? I am streaming and playing from file browser to vlc ok and just having issue with downloading files.
