VLC Player does not update when prompted - crashes in Windows

Good morning,

I am deploying VLC in my organisation and have ran into an issue at the "client" side. When a client opens VLC Player they will be prompted that a new versions is available and if the client would like to download it. When the client clicks "Yes" the download starts and then VLC Player crashes. I have attached a pic of this. It is a consistent error under Windows 7 x64 and Windows 10 x64 computers here at my organisation. We are updating from VLC Player 2.2.2/2.2.3 to the latest version 2.2.4
