WebM file incorrectly demuxed, video is garbage

    I'm using OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 on a MacBook Air (13-inch, mid-2013), with VLC 2.2.2. The issue is also present in the nightly build "vlc-2.2.0-x86_64-20160506-0309.zip" taken from http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/macosx-intel/?C=M;O=D.

    I have a VP9/Vorbis WebM video file, attached, which has the problem. VLC produces garbage video output, but correct audio output, when it plays it. However, it plays fine in mplayer and Firefox.

    It appears to be a demuxing issue with whatever demuxer VLC uses by default, because when I run VLC with the --demux=avformat command-line flag, the issue disappears.

      Oh, looks like this might have been fixed. In the nightly build "vlc-3.0.0-x86_64-20160321-0110.zip" from http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/macosx-intel/?C=M;O=D, the issue seems to be gone.

      Actually, no. In that 3.0.0 build, the video starts okay, but then circa 11 seconds into the video, it turns to garbage again.

      Running 3.0.0 with --demux=avformat has interesting results. Unlike with 2.2.2, this doesn't fix the playback issues. But it does produce interesting errors:

      Ah, other WebM files I play in 3.0.0 (which I ended up doing after accidentally setting file associations to use the nightly!) also get glitched at points. That explains why switching the demuxer doesn't completely fix the video like it does in 2.2.2, I guess 3.0.0 nightly has some additional issue with VP9 WebM. For all I know, the 2.2.2 issue may have been fixed and all I'm seeing is this other issue.

      and #16836 (closed)? I don't think so. That issue is supposedly specific to iOS, but I'm seeing this on Windows 7.

      The Nightly Build server is apparently down right now so I can't check against that.
