Interactive zoom fails in portrait mode

Steps:

  • Start VLC Player
  • Click on the "repeat button" at the bottom of the screen
  • Press the "show extended settings" button at the bottom of the screen
  • Switch to "Video Effects" tab
  • Switch to "Geometry" tab
  • Click the check box for "Interactive Zoom"
  • Press the close button
  • First drop the "Works.mp4" file, and then
  • Drop the "NoZoom.mp4" file onto the screen

I see:

  • In both cases there is a zoom index and a square showing which portion of the overall image is being displayed.
  • In the "Works" case, this square can be moved around, and the zoom amount can be varied.
  • In the "NoZoom" case, this zoom square cannot be moved around, nor can the zoom amount be varied.

I expect:

  • Both cases should behave similar to "works".

Notes: These images were created using a Samsung Note 4. In the "works" case, the video was recorded in landscape mode, the in "No Zoom" case, the video was recorded in portrait mode.
